| Review:
Alicia Silver is a special taste. Her official site is quite nice,
but small and definitely geared toward a niche.
There is a very simple layout. Members have five areas to visit: photos, video, diary, store
and a brief bio. The diary isn't really a diary. It's just an updates
page. In the bio we learn that Alicia is a "low maintenance"
kind of gal. Just "one of the guys." Nice to know she's fun to
hang out with. However, seeing as we're unlikely to ever meet her . .
.
We toured the site the third week in December 2003, and the last update was
a couple of videos added November 28. Ouch. Then we noticed that these
weren't really updates to the site, but new videos available from
Alicia's "store." Double-Ouch.
Going over the previous updates it would seem as though the site is
trying to update once a week. But only trying. It looks like once every
couple of weeks is closer to the real schedule.
Now for the videos. There are actually two different video areas.
First there are the videos you can download in short clips. Then you
have the "Streaming Video" area where you buy time to watch
full-length videos of Alicia in her bondage sessions.
Yes, that's right, as a member you buy time (30 minutes =
$17.95).
Ouch.
On the video download page there are clips available in Windows and QuickTime formats. No thumbnails or even file
sizes to help you make your choice (they seemed to all be in the 5-15 meg range).
There were 10 different movies,
split up into anywhere from 3 to 9 clips. The clips are high quality but
sound seemed to be missing in some. They also don't feature anything special in terms of editing or
action. There is
something inherently static about the bondage fetish. A video of a girl
struggling in ropes isn't a whole lot different from a picture of a girl
tied up in ropes. And when the video is five minutes long it's really
just five minutes of more struggling. Of course, if that's your
thing more is always more.
The photo galleries are categorized as: Glamour, Fetish/Bondage (the
fetish is bondage), Erotic (how is this different from
"Glamour"? we don't know), Behind the Scenes, and Girlfriends.
There are anywhere from 20 to 200 pics per gallery and around 130
galleries in total when we visited. Pretty good. As with the video, the technical quality is very high.
The pics are big and clear. And there is a good line-up of models. The
actual photography is just average though. No style points for whoever
is behind the camera here.
As noted, Alicia's big thing is bondage. Bondage as in ropes and
gags. If you're not into bondage you should probably forget about this
site. There is little else on tap. No cock. Not much
toy play. No shaving or pissing or flashing. A little something for the
foot fetish crowd. But basically just bondage. And not really nasty
bondage either. We're not talking Water
Bondage or Fucking
Machines. This is the sort of retro-style sweater-girl "True
Crime" school of bondage. It's not a bad little site, but limited in
its appeal to softcore bondage fans.
