When the Internet took over from newsstands and hole-in-the-wall video
stores as the number one way for people to get their porn it really transformed
the industry in two directions. In the first place, niche fetish became a
lot more important. If you're putting out a magazine or producing a line of
video it's harder to service a niche because the costs are too high for what
are, in many cases, very limited audiences. But the Internet brings the costs
down while at the same time making it easier to reach a more targeted, and
global, audience. So the freaks really came out. At the same time, the Internet
revolution also led to a tremendous rise in demotic porn. These are the
sites featuring "real" people (we're not talking about
"reality porn" here, that's something else). At the high end of demotic porn you got studio sites
like Abby Winters, where glam was out and girls-next-door were in. At the low
end you got a huge explosion of voyeur/exhibitionist sites (many of them
free, and you can see some links here), where everyone's neighbour wanted the
world to Rate Their Rack/Rod, or started sending anonymous phone-camera pics
of their cleavage or thong to bulletin boards.
Amateur Canada is sort of in the middle. It is definitely all about the amateur scene. These are real girls. How can we tell? Well, the
production is kind of cheap. And a lot of them aren't all that pretty. However, on the
latter point we direct you to the site tour which allows you to browse through the 74 exclusive "babes" on offer when we visited.
Whatever else you want to say about it, this is an open site.
As to what makes these girls "Canadian", your guess is as good
as ours (and we are Canadian). They seem to be the usual, multi-ethnic bunch. A few
cougars, but mostly younger. Quite a lot of tattoos. And, for some odd reason,
more than a few pregnant chicks. Or maybe they're just fat. Well, some
of them are definitely pregnant.
Fuck is the layout ever mixed up. Somebody needs to re-do this whole
site. Why the hell is there a difference between Video Archives and Video
Gallery? These really are two different sections. Where is the main model
index for the video section? In fact, where is the model index in the
members section? These are big concerns. We also missed having an About page
giving us a little more info on what this site is all about, who is behind it,
and where it's located. Canada sure, but Canada is the second largest
country in the world. The webmaster keeps talking about bringing the girls back to
"my place", but we had no idea where that was.
Time to break it down. As noted, they had 74 exclusive girls when we
dropped in, and they're adding updates every 5 days (a schedule they've
maintained since they started in 2001). There didn't seem to be any cams. Looked
like 100 exclusive movies (wmv format), with the video coming in at 320x240
and playback at around 500 kb/s (earlier stuff not as good, some later
stuff is better--it varies a bit). This is what is advertised as "DVD
quality videos". It doesn't look that spectacular, mainly because it isn't
professionally produced, but it's not terrible. The background noise
seemed kind of loud and the lighting is sometimes suspect but that's all
part of the amateur experience. You can watch streams or
download clips but for some reason you can't download full movies. How
annoying. Action
is boy-girl (typically POV, blowing the cameraman stuff), girl-girl and solo.
No fetish.
The photo galleries are broken into several categories. Canadian
Exclusives (21,000 pics, exclusive to this site), Girls-of-Canada (26,000
non-exclusive pics of what are, presumably, Canadian girls), International Girls
(2,500 pics of girls from outside Canada), Movie Marathon Feature (couldn't
figure this one out, looks like vidcaps from five movies), and Mystery Girls
(4,700 outdoor pics of girls from small Ontario towns--"West Lorne",
"Muirkirk" and "New Liskeard", all of which are real places, by the way--with
their faces blacked out). These pics are the usual amateur snaps, and
most are only
640x480. Some sets have high-res pics at 1280x960. Others are just
vidcaps.
It's a bit of a grab-bag. You
can get a good idea what to expect from the pics by browsing the site for free.
Extra sections include "Erotica", which is 10 zipped audio
files of sexual sound effects, and "Interactive", which has the feeds.
Lots of action here, reasonably well presented most of the time, and
they're clearly a going concern. But the site itself is a bit of a cluttered
mess and could use an overhaul.
Worth checking out for all the movies if you're really into the amateur scene.
