APRIL 2006 RE-VISIT
It's been a long time (two-and-a-half years!) but
we're back to take another look at what has always been one of our
favourite sites, the now-legendary Fucking Machines.
And here's what strikes us: Why is it that the best
sites are also the ones that continue to improve? Answer: Because that's
what quality sites do. It's not like they really have to keep trying
harder to catch up since they're already on top. But the same effort
that made them the best in the first place keeps driving them forward.
Fucking Machines is like this (and VideoBox is another good example of
the same principle in action). This site hasn't changed dramatically in
the last couple of years, but it has gotten better. And it was already
by far and away the powerhouse in this niche before.
The first big change to note is the upgrade in video
quality. As of December 2005 all the video is formatted at 640x480 and
700 kb/s. That's not knock-us-on-our-ass amazing, but it looks really
good. Our only disappointment was that they haven't reformatted all the
older video so that everything looks as nice. The older stuff is still
320x240 and 500 kb/s, and the difference is really bothersome when you
compare old and new sets.
Of course they've also added a bunch of new machines
(the mechanical rogues gallery is here).
We suspect they are running out of ideas though. There's only so much
you can do. One wrinkle to the line-up that we were happy to see is the
introduction of pump machines like the "tit sucker" (which
doubles as a nipple and clit sucker), and the pussy pump "vulvulator."
Pumping fans rejoice! There is more for you now too.
Like
most
excellent
sites
the
tour
pages
give
you
a
full
(indeed
exhaustive)
breakdown,
complete
with
plenty
of
thumbnails,
of
everything
that's
on
offer.
When
we
visited
this
time
they
were
up
to
316
total
shoots
and
over
6,000
clips
(these
numbers
are
kept
up-to-date
on
the
tour
page
so
you
can
always
see
exactly
how
much
you're
getting).
A
new
shoot
is
being
added
weekly,
which
is
pretty
impressive
because
each
episode
features
nearly
an
hour
(sometimes
more)
of
footage
with
the
girl
(or
girls)
working
out
on
several
machines.
Other improvements include getting out of the dungeon
more often and using different sets (or even taking the action
outdoors!), and better sound recording (at least the fucking machines
didn't seem so fucking noisy to us).
What
impressed
us
the
most,
however,
is
the
incredible
amount
of
feedback
this
site
gets.
Each
set
comes
with
a
little
comment-book
filled
with
yay-
and
nay-sayers
offering
their
own
2
cents.
Yes,
a
lot
of
sites
offer
a
feature
where
you
can
rate
a
model
or a
movie
and
write
comments,
but
for
whatever
reason
the
sites
produced
by
Kink.com
really
bring
out
the
inner
critic.
Though
the
webmasters
ask
that
all
comments
be
considerate
of
the
models,
and
they
are,
there
is
still
a
lot
of
negative
(as
well
as
positive)
feedback.
God
knows
if
these
guys
start
doing
something
wrong
the
members
are
going
to
let
them
hear
about
it
immediately.
Personally,
we
didn't
agree
with
a
lot
of
the
comments
we
read,
but
we
found
most
of
them
interesting
and
worth
considering.
Of
course
they
didn't
really
affect
our
enjoyment
of
any
of
the
content,
but
they
did
add
to
our
enjoyment
of
the
site
as a
whole.
Which,
after
a
long
time
away,
was
still
considerable.
OCTOBER 2003 REVIEW
FuckingMachines.com is the flagship site for an outfit
(Cybernet
Entertainment) that
specializes in bizarre bondage/fetish sites, including Water
Bondage, Wired Pussy,
Men in Pain,
Ultimate
Surrender (links to separate reviews), and
Hogtied, Whipped
Ass, and Butt Machine Boys (external links to these sites, no reviews available). In terms of their
presentation, and to some extent their content, they are quite similar.
In fact, the content is sometimes shared, so that Men in Pain, for
example, seems to have grown out of Whipped Ass. So what we have to say about this one pretty much goes for the rest as
well.
Site design is a little grim with the grey backgrounds, but rest
assured it is very
user-friendly. A super-efficient search function lets you browse all of
the sites in the network for favourite models and the movies they appear
in. (Be advised that one membership doesn't get you into all the
different sites though--they are each sold separately.) The movies themselves,
which come with complete pic sets (high res and low res), usually run from 20 to
50 minutes for a full scene, and are usually available in RealPlayer and
Windows versions. A nice feature lets them be downloaded in parts or all at once as zip files
(or you can just check on the parts you want and download them as a zip
file--very user friendly for modem users and handy for highspeed as
well!). Large thumbnails are provided, as well as same-page member
feedback on the scenes (nice touch!). There is also a members' forum .
Updates and schedule pages let you know what's new and what's coming
soon (again across the whole network). Updates are quite regular, and
seem to be occurring on a weekly basis for each site.
Most of the site, including updates, can be browsed without getting a membership, which
we always consider to be one sure sign of quality: They have nothing to hide.
All content is exclusive (at least exclusive to this network) and
professionally done. The models are above average overall (especially
given the
niche), though you have to take a bit of the bad with the good. The video is
good quality and well shot,
lit, and
edited. Even the sound is good, though in the movies featuring machines
this isn't much of a plus since the damn things make so much noise
(can't they insulate the motors a bit?). The studio sets (locker room,
dungeon, classroom, doctor's office, etc.) are somewhat dingy looking
though.
Sometimes this works or is otherwise necessary (especially for a site
like Water Bondage), and shooting in a studio definitely has its
advantages (better sound for one thing), but we would have enjoyed a bit
more variety here.
All of the sites are quite original in their exploration of a
particular fetish, and imaginative as well. The imagination, however, is
mainly technical rather than psychological. The machines are like
creations out of Dr. Seuss, and the bondage/torture elements can be
downright bizarre. The Femdom site Men in Pain probably has the most
drama, though there is some role-playing throughout. This is important
because, at least in our opinion, bondage (and fucking machines, and
wired pussy) can be a pretty mechanical operation unless we see people
interacting.
That's it for general comments. To summarize: These are very
well-produced, creative, user-friendly, no-nonsense fetish sites.
There's no question Fucking Machines is the most technically creative
of the bunch. Basically you have a bunch of garage-built Battlebots with
dildos taking on a raft of curious models. A "Meet the
Machines" section (you can see them all here)
lets you know who the real stars are, with a
cast ranging from the old stand-by Sybian to the "Crystal
Palace" and "Twinserter" ("the only machine built
specfically for DP"). And they keep building more of these things
all the time! Some bondage is also thrown
in. The standard set-up, however, is girl plus machine, often with
another girl working the controls.
As noted, we thought the machines were too noisy. We also thought the
sets did little to add to the atmosphere (why would a fucking machine be
set up in a gym locker room?). The production is first rate though, and
the machines quite inventive. The video is also handled very well, which
isn't always easy when using this kind of equipment. Girls and machines
is very much a niche fetish, but if it's yours (and it probably is if
you've read this much) then this is certainly the place to go.
