Fuckplex Movies is a good example of a common enough type of site that offers
solid value for your
porn dollar. Like the other video archive sites networks it basically provides a selection of large video files for
download. And it's very good at what it does.
The main menu when we visited consisted of some 800+GB (over 400
hours) of clips. These can
be downloaded in a number of different formats (or viewed as
streams), but all are very large files.
Given the nature of this site you will definitely want a high-speed
connection. The site operators will mail a CD of content you select out to modem-user members free of
charge, but when you figure that it's only one CD (around six clips) per
month, that's not such a great deal. It's nice that Fuckplex is making
the effort (we can't think of anyone else who does), but we would still only recommend the site for high-speed
users.
The clips are arranged in "theatres", with a good
selection of thumbnails from each clip and a brief introduction by the
site operators. We were surprised to find these introductions getting
quite critical. One scene introduction begins with this: "If it weren't for the terrible lighting, overuse of special
effects, and grainy image, it would have been a pleasure to watch."
That's admirable candor (easier to indulge in when the material isn't
your own). In addition, there is a system for members to vote for and
rate their favourite clips.
For archive sites like this the selection of material
is the main thing you'll want to know about. Take the tour and get a
sense of what's on tap. You can view the entire list of videos, with
thumbnails, on the tour so there are no surprises. As an overview, there is an emphasis on
teen, interracial and
multiple partner scenes. There aren't a lot of "pornstar"
clips aside from a good sampling of older Jill
Kelly Productions stuff (especially their "Making of"
series).
When we visited there was some talk about navigational aids that were
coming soon. This is a good idea, since the site really needs a better
index system and a search function. The clips should be arranged by the
type of action or star or something other than the simple
"theatre" system. As it is, you have to basically click
through every page to see what's there.
Is any of this content totally exclusive to this site? No, that's not
a claim they make. But the selection is decent and updates are being
added on a daily basis.
In addition to the movie clips there are some cams and picture galleries in
various categories. Most of this we had seen
before. Let's face it, that's not what you're joining for.
This is a well-maintained site that offers a good collection of clips
for movie fans. The options for download are pretty generous, with very
high-quality downloads available for all the clips. Everything about the
site is up-front so you should be able to just browse the archive and
see if there's something you want. You may want to just get the trial if
there's something specific you're interested in, but with the daily
updates a monthly membership isn't a bad deal.
