| Review:
Forget
about
the
photography
for
just
a
second.
What
we
want
to
know
is
the
name
of
the
person
writing
the
text
for
these
European
"New
Nude"
sites.
It's
the
same
for
all
the
Archives
sites
(Angel
Archives,
Pleasure
Archives,
even
Hegre
Archives),
and
it
doesn't
take
long
before
you're
waist-deep
in
it
here: "When
Didier
Carré
first
started
taking
photographs
of
trees,
was
he
aware
of
the
sexual
metaphor
in
the
shapes
of
trees,
in
the
underlying
message
entwined
in
the
roots?" Was
he
aware?
Hey,
you're
talking
about
an artiste!
How
could
he not
be
aware?
Especially
when "An
image
for
Carré
begins
in
the
imagination
and,
like
a
painting
in
oils,
the
shot
is
constructed
intellectually
a
step
at a
time.
. .
.Like
an
alchemist
turning
base
metal
to
gold,
Carré
mixes
his
chemicals
to
his
own
formula
and
prints
on
high-quality
Berrger
paper
[whatever
that
is]
. .
. Carré
steers
clear
of
digital
cameras
and
believes
that
when
you
can
send
images
through
a
wire
something
of
the
soul
of
the
photograph
disappears." We
know
how
that
feels.
Something
of
our
soul
disappears
with
all
the
images
we
download
over
wires
as
well. We
have
to
ask:
Do
all
Europeans
nude
photographers
take
themselves
so
seriously?
Hey,
we're
not
knocking
it.
We're
happy
they
found
someone
who
could
write
English
we
could
understand.
But
we're
not
sure
they
need
quite
so
much
bullshit. In
case
you
miss
the
deathless
prose,
you'll
know
right
away
that
you're
in
an
artsy-nude
site
here
because
all
the
pictures
are
in
black
and
white!
Nothing
says
class
and
culture
like
an
absence
of
colour,
and
Monsieur
Carre
is
obviously
going
for
a
sort
of
minimalist
class.
Not
much
to
any
of
the
sets
but
a
chair
and
a
blanket.
Shadow
and
light.
At a
basic
level
that's
what
photography
is
all
about. The
other
thing
you'll
probably
notice
right
away
is
that
this
guy
is
good.
Very
good.
The
posing
is
perfect,
and
he's
capable
of
shooting
anything
from
full
body
to
close-ups
of
any
body
part
equally
well.
We
have
rarely,
if
ever,
seen
models
looking
this
clean
and
fresh
and
beautiful. And
the
models
are
pretty
good
to
begin
with.
35
girls
when
we
visited,
almost
all
of
them
from
Eastern
Europe.
A
few
names,
like
Luba,
that
you
might
recognize.
But
they're
all
pretty
sweet.
A
couple
of
bad
implant
jobs
were
the
only
off-note.
The
content
is
basic
solo
posing.
Some
sets
have
two
girls,
but
they
aren't
going
down
on
each
other.
You
see
dildos
being
used,
but
there's
no
kink.
There
are
also
a
few
pics
of
landscapes
and
flowers
thrown
in
the
mix,
just
so
you
don't
start
thinking
this
guy
is
some
kind
of
perv. Site
design
is
pretty
basic.
Like
the
other
nude
archives
the
galleries
are laid
out
like
a
calendar.
So
you
either
browse
by
date
or
go
through
a
model
index.
One
thing
really
bothered
us
though.
Sometimes
there
is a
Gallery
of
the
Day
and
sometimes
just
a
Picture
of
the
Day.
We
couldn't
figure
out
how
you
were
supposed
to
tell
the
difference
from
the
thumbnails.
It
was
disappointing
clicking
on a
thumbnail
and
then
realizing
there
weren't
any
other
pictures
to
go
with
it.
This
could
be
easily
avoided. These
really
are
beautiful
photos,
and
they
are
wonderfully
reproduced.
Each
picture
comes
in
three
sizes:
600,
1200
and
2000.
We
tried
a
couple
of
the
supersize
pics
but
really:
What's
the
point?
What
use
is a
picture
that
big?
It's
certainly
impressive,
but
it's
way
too
large
even
to
use
as a
wallpaper.
The
1200
was
plenty
big
enough
for
us.
But
rest
assured
that
even
at
the
largest
size
the
picture
quality
is
maintained
at a
very
high
standard
(and
if
you
don't
want
to
take
our
word
for
it,
the
previews
and
site
tour
give
you
plenty
of
samples).
Each
gallery
can
also
be
downloaded
as a
zip
file,
which,
given
the
size
of
some
of
the
pics,
was
nice. Our
major
concern
was
with
the
amount
of
material.
The
daily
galleries
start
in
November
2003.
But
(as
noted)
some
of
the
galleries
only
have
one
pic,
and
the
largest
only
have
six.
So
you're
only
talking
around
3,000
pics
total
here.
That's
not
a
lot,
especially
when
you
consider
the
fact
that
the
site
has
no
real
extras
and
no
video
at
all.
Now
in
Didier's
defence,
most
of
the
video
for
these
nude
photography
sites
is
just
lame
"backstage"
stuff
anyway.
We
can
live
without
it.
And
he
would
probably
also
say,
with
some
justification,
that
he
has
small
galleries
because
he's
picking
quality
over
quantity.
Fair
enough,
but
not
all
of
the
pics
were
that
distinct
either. For
fans
of
nude
photography
this
is a
must.
The
man
is a
master.
We
would
have
liked
more
content
for
this
price,
but
we're
giving
it a
"7"
anyway
because
these
really
are
some
of
the
best
nudes
we've
ever
seen. |
