You've got to hand it to the BrainPass
people. What they've done with their network is put together a nice,
balanced mix of amateur and professional.
The amateurs (Christine
Young, Shelby Bell,
Sweet Amylee,
Melissa
Doll) are young, natural, French-Canadian girls. Their sites are
professionally produced and the quality of presentation is
excellent.
The pro sites (Peter
North, and now Lex Steele), are among the best pornstar sites
available. Why? Because they give you what you want from a pornstar
site: The ability to download all of their studio videos. It's hard to
think of other pornstars out there with official sites that give you
access to so much of their material. Is it because Peter and Lex are
men? Because they have their own video lines and own their own content (Lex's
company is Mercenary Pictures)?
Getting both Peter North and Lexington ("Lex") Steele with
one membership is quite a coup. These guys are both legends. Lex is a
three-time AVN performer of the year and, like Pete, has several video
lines (also like Pete, he doesn't appear in every scene of all of
"his" movies, but there's nothing wrong with some variety).
The video lines you'll see featured here are Pole Position (Lex's
point-of-view videos); Black Reign (get a load of this: "This
series is dedicated to bringing respect to Black performers in the
industry. It features all the attitudes, from nasty, big-tit bitches to
slim, athletic, shy girls." How can a series dedicated to
"bringing respect" to black performers go on to describe them
as "nasty, big-tit bitches" in the next sentence?); Heavy
Metal (Lex's anal series: "Will these pornstar sustain the damage
as Lex's heavy cock rips them apart? Only the real stars will emerge
from the ultimate anal test."); LexSteelexxx (where Lex gets some
help, as if he needed it); Lexonblondes ( "once you go Lex, you can
never go back"--folks, that doesn't rhyme!); Top Gun (some
kind of silliness with people in uniform); ManHammer; and Superwhores.
You can expect professional studio production throughout, and name
talent like Nikita Denise, Belladonna, and Jewel Denyle catching Lex's monster cock.
What we missed was a search function that would make it easier for us to
find particular models we were interested in. Instead you can
"Search by Title". What use is that? The titles of the movies
are just Black Reign Volume One, Black Reign Volume Two, Black Reign
Volume Three, etc.
As with Peter North.com, you don't get the sense that Lex himself has
much to do with the site. The BrainPass girls do more of the hands-on
stuff. There is a message board, but these are surprisingly quiet across
the network. You do, however, get a generous supply of the Man of
Steel's content. When we visited the site had just launched, so there
wasn't a whole lot of stuff yet (which is the only reason we're giving
it a lower grade that Peter's site). But you know that the updates are
going to be coming like clockwork. Otherwise the layout is the usual
BrainPass house-style (except this time it's all done against a black
background--get it?). The videos can be downloaded in six formats: three
low res (56 kb/s wmv, 178 kbs wmv, 350 kb/s mpg) and three high res (228
kb/s wmv, 700 kb/s wmv, 650 kbs/s mpg). In case you're uncertain, the
700 kb/s wmv files are by far the best and the only ones you should be
bothering with (unless you're stuck with a modem). They typically run
around 25 megs a clip. Each scene is divided into around 5 clips. We are
amazed that you still can't download full scenes (especially
after all our complaining!), but there you have it. There is also a
vidcap section to go with the movies. We wish they would give more
vidcaps to go with the actual clips so we could get a better idea of
what it is we're downloading, but maybe previews are what the 56 kb/s
downloads are for.
In addition to his movies you also get to download complete episodes
of "Lex in the City", the sex/talkshow thing that Lex hosts on
the Playboy Channel (along with the always yummy Vanessa Blue as DJ).
There were also "Exclusive Live Shows" advertised as
"coming soon", but we weren't sure what they would entail.
"Your exclusive chance to hang out with me online"! But we're
not sure we want to hang out with Lex. We want to be Lex. Just
for a little while.
The Pictures section has production stills of Lex and others in
various encounters. 30 galleries when we dropped by (most of which
feature Lex). These are worth checking out as the pic quality is quite
good.
You know this is going to be a very solid
site. As times goes by it's only going to get better because Lex
has a whole lot of material to keep adding. Don't expect much of a
personal presence though. Lex is basically just letting BrainPass run
the show while he does his thing on the production side.
