(Note: This is an old review of a site that wasn't
updating at the time, featuring a star who has, as far as we know, quit
the industry. Just so you know.-Eds.)
There's one thing you have to say about the sites run by Digital
Playground: They don't lure you in with false advertising. Want to
know what's available for members? Just click through it. You'll get
thumbnails, descriptions, and exact breakdowns on how many pics and
video files are in each section. When we visited, the stats were 15
galleries with nearly 4 hours of video, and 29 galleries with nearly
2,000 pics. For the experienced porn surfer, that won't impress. But at
least there were no surprises--thank you very much.
What you can't sample is quality. Here the news is mixed, but mostly
good. The pics are all a good size and decent resolution. Even the sets
of Nikki dancing look sharp. But the videos, all in QuickTime and around
30 seconds to a minute in length, are only average.
As we mentioned (and as you will no doubt discover for yourself on
your pre-tour) there is not a lot of stuff. Only three galleries (fewer
than 200 pics) in the Boy-Girl photo section? Only three different
Boy-Girl movies? Obviously this is a work in progress. There's even a
Solo video section set aside despite the fact there are no videos in it.
In addition, a lot of what there is available isn't new. We were
familiar with many of the photosets and video clips (we saw the Nikki
and Jenna dating game on Howard Stern, and have seen it elsewhere on the
Net as well). Despite the fact that this site has only recently been
relaunched, we suspect Nikki isn't very involved in its operation. We
were unsure if any of the content was exclusive. The "Live
Chats" are not occurring at all frequently (the last one before we
visited had been nearly two months ago, and there was no schedule for
the next). The "steamy diary" has few personal details and is
likely only the work of the same hack who has written the blurbs
introducing the galleries ("I love wearing nothing but my black
chaps!! It makes me feel so sexy!" "Taking some time off by
the pool. Care to join me? I'm waiting!"). We know Nikki is smarter
than this.
The main question we have is whether this site is going to get
better. Fans should check the updates carefully. Note that Nikki's site
"Bio" tells us that Virtual Sex With Nikki Tyler "will
be available in July 1999!" And, we hasten to add, the exclamation
mark is theirs. This really shook our confidence.
