mixed
in
with
all
the
usual
stuff
(always
assuming
"the
usual
stuff"
is
professionally
done).
Ron
Harris.com
is
like
that:
a
highly
personal,
opinionated
and
distinctive
site
with
solid
production
values.
And
most
of
the
time
it's
very
good.
The design is anything but straightforward. You may be
expecting Pics, Videos, and a basic Model index and Latest Updates page.
Think again. The main members page gives you a number of selections,
including some very weird and idiosyncratic stuff. Like:
Salvador Dali and the history of erotic art (mainly reclining
odalisques, but also including Michelangelo's statue of David and
Brancusi's The Kiss--now how erotic is that?), "erotic
flowers" (we are told that "flowers are always female, some
look like vaginas"), a video illustrating the "nine levels of
a woman's orgasm," a softcore "aerobicize" video, and a
"pussy flavored panty store" that offers model underwear for
sale. Weirdest of all, however, is a section titled "Naked
Power" that offers a hotlinked manifesto of Mr. Harris's views on
beauty and life in general. As far as we could tell (and none of us is a
professional) it represents a kind of hyper-aesthetic Darwinism. Men are
elliptical and women spheroid. The equation power = sex x money(squared)
is the formula behind it all. A sampling of other observations:
"Small women need little sex. If she is
feminine and pretty even less sex. Big masculine unstable bodies need
lots of sex. Since they don't live very long, they must breed, whenever
they can. Or their body type will become extinct."
"Most shapes in nature are female."
"Pain is the breaking of the shell that
encloses your understanding."
"Men who are risk takers, have twice as many
wives and three times as many children. Leaders, CEO's, Politicians,
Athletes, Attorneys, Rock Stars, Movie Stars, Directors and Criminals.
They usually have the most beautiful wives and children. They also have
the highest levels of testosterone."
"Get rich, get famous, get power and you will
have all the women you desire."
Yes, that was our plan once too. But does any man ever
have all the women he desires (as opposed to all he really needs)? And
then there was this other stuff that made us raise an eyebrow:
"This next century will see the Chinese, the
Muslims and the blacks come into there own. These cultures have a
different set of values and will probably help set into motion the
destruction of many of our most loved social institutions."
"Light skinned blondes are the most desired
genetic type. All men and women understand that this is beauty as we
fundamentally understand it."
Uh-huh. Best not expect very many Asian, Black
or Latina babes here.
We then clicked on "New Galleries",
expecting new galleries, but found a message telling us that this was a
feature provided by a third party of the work of David Lace (teens,
pretty good stuff and a lot of it). Then there was a small selection of
pics by a dozen of the "world's leading photographers",
including . . . Ron Harris! Hey! Isn't this his site? Then there was
"Hookers & Whores": 18 bonus sites promising--get a load
of this--"every conceivable photo, movie, chat and live sex feed on
the internet"! Not quite. It's just a page of feeds.
So much for the extras (and, as extras go, these were
pretty entertaining). You're probably wondering "Where's Ron?"
right about now. Answer: Behind Door Number One: Ron Harris's Studio.
(There is another section called "Sweet 18" which
features young models in some high-quality photosets. We didn't know if
these were shot by Ron.) OK, once you get inside Ron's Studio Collection
you have more choices, including a number of full-length videos (a
casting video, aerobics video, and a couple of others). The main
collection, however, is in "Ron's Malibu House." (Can you see
why we thought the design was less than straightforward? Are you still
reading this? We hope so, because this is where all the really good
stuff is.)
In this section you can browse through photo
galleries, by model, videos, or updates. We were a little surprised to
find only 16 models listed in the model gallery. For a site just
celebrating its 7th anniversary when we visited this seemed low. As for
the content, it's mainly pretty young girls solo with an emphasis on
orgasms (the "escape from death"). The presentation isn't the
best. You can view the pics by high-speed or modem slideshow, but
slideshows are not our favourite browsing tool. You can view thumbnail
galleries for 56k, but otherwise you have to download the high-res pics
in a zip file. At least that's the way we read it. As already noted,
this isn't the most user-friendly site we've seen. The videos are much
the same: very high quality stuff with lots of good close-ups is
available. The movies are offered in a range of resolutions (100, 300,
500 and 700 kbs). For anything except the 100 kbs level you'll want to
have a high-speed connection (the files can be over 70 megs).
Unfortunately the videos don't come with scene descriptions or
thumbnails, so you're basically saving blind links. On the plus side, we
were really impressed with the size of the video files available for
download, as well as their originality and quality (bad side: floating
titles and a tendency to shift out of focus; a wash: Ron's voiceovers
and the background music). Updates to the "Malibu House" are
occurring every week.
This is a highly personal collection of material and
extras with a strong technical base. The navigation could be simplified
though, especially by making all the extras more obviously
"extra" (that is, off to the side of the main part of the
site). The galleries could also be presented in thumbnail sheets,
allowing for download in high- or low-res versions directly from the
thumbnail.
